Somehow during all of the Holiday shopping and gifting we lose the true meaning of the season of giving. In 2012 a global movement began called #GivingTuesday, which falls on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. #GivingTuesday is a day to give back, for all people in communities to come together for one purpose; to celebrate and encourage generosity and giving to bring about change. You don’t have to be a world leader or a billionaire to give back. #GivingTuesday is about ordinary people coming together doing the extraordinary.

As a founding partner of #RockHillGives, our hope is that this movement promotes generous giving, not only in donations of money, but donations of time. Anyone can participate; raise funds, volunteer, donate goods or service, or promote on social media. It is the vision of the group that this one day this will spur a season of giving or even a lifetime of giving.

We ask that Rock Hill celebrate the powerful positive role that giving plays in our community and share an “UNselfie” on their social media sites. Unselfies are a way of inspiring friends and family to give and to see the cause that is important to you, all in an effort to raise awareness and spread giving.

Visit the #RockHillGives Facebook page or website www.rockhillgives.org to print the #UNselfie template. Have someone take a photo of you holding the card that reads who you give to and why, post your unselfie to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or you can email it to friends. Remember to use the hashtag #RockHillGives.
